<itunes:summary>VAUGHAN, ON – This week’s special guest on OSATv TouchLine with host Anthony Totera is Gareth Wheeler – Sun Sports Media writer and TV personality who demonstrates his breadth of sports knowledge and infectious passion in a wide-ranging discussion on the state of soccer in Ontario and Canada. A devoted athlete and sports fan, Gareth comes from a soccer background. He was involved in the Ontario Provincial Program and was a member of the Western Mustangs National Champion Men’s Soccer team (1999). Capping off a 5-year career at University of Western Ontario, Gareth was presented the Syl Basacco Memorial Award for contributions to the team and the soccer program. While at Western, Gareth brought together a lifetime of acting and public speaking with his passion for sports, hosting a sports call-in talk show on University radio (CHRW). This led to various television hosting gigs in and around the Golden Horseshoe area after his schooling. Before joining SUN TV, Gareth worked at TSN, launching his own national soccer column, ‘Keep Ups, with Gareth Wheeler’. At SUN TV, Gareth is also the sports host/producer for CANOE Live (SUN TV’s nightly Current Affairs program) and a co-creator/co-host and producer of Fantasy Sports: the 411; a SUN TV original program dedicated to Fantasy Sports. He has also called live boxing, soccer, basketball, football and hockey as a play-by-play and colour commentator. Gareth also writes a weekly soccer column for the Toronto Sun, and is a contributing columnist for Soccer 360 magazine and a regular guest on sports radio and sports television across Toronto.
