London Kings Emerge as Special Olympics Ontario Cup Champions
On Sunday, September 16, four teams in the Special Olympics division competed at The Soccer Centre for the Ontario Cup. The Oakville Strikers, London Kings, ICHA Spirit, and the Quinte West Rock faced off in a 5-on-5 tournament on the indoor turf in Vaughan. After six highly entertaining round robin games, the Final game was set: London Kings vs. Quinte West Rock. Quinte West looked to be the favourite, as they took down London 3-2 in the tournament round. However, London would have something to say about that, as they came out flying with intensity. While both sides exchanged several great scoring chances, the goalkeepers played excellent and kept it a low scoring affair. After regulation time, the score was deadlocked at 1-1. In Kicks from the Penalty Mark, it would be London who emerged victorious with a 4-2 edge over Quinte West. Congratulations to the London Kings, the Special Olympics Ontario Cup Champions!
