Ontario Cup Semi-Finalists Set To Make Bid For Finals

VAUGHAN, August 22, 2012–The Ontario Cup presented by Boston Pizza is ready to kick off the Semi-Final Round this weekend, August 25-26. From Under 12 Boys and Girls, to Men and Women, teams in 15 divisions will compete at five of Ontario’s premier soccer facilities in hopes of landing a spot in the Ontario Cup Finals. The venues of the Semi-Final Rounds are Birchmount Stadium, Esther Shiner Stadium, Centennial Stadium, Civic Stadium, and Hershey Centre.

Among the teams gearing up for this weekend is the highly anticipated Men’s division. Of the eight Ontario Soccer League provincial level teams registered in the 2012 Ontario Cup, only two remain. PCC Mississauga and Scarborough GS United are all that’s left from Ontario’s top amateur Men’s league, and will look to keep the Ontario Cup trophy amongst their ranks. Their opponents, Ottawa Capital United Premier and AEK London FC, respectively, will have something to say about that in what promises to be a very exciting pair of Semi-Finals.

This leaves the contest wide open, as the four remaining squads will look to take the provincial title. The four Semi-Finalists in the Classics division will compete to take down the provincial title and represent Ontario in this year’s National Championships held in Edmonton.
