Members of Canada’s Bronze Medal winning Women’s National Team will be recognized during a special ceremony at the 7 September FIFA World Cup™ Qualifiers match between Canada and Panama at BMO Field in Toronto, ON (19.30 local kick-off).
The event on 7 September will give the Canadian soccer community a chance to show their appreciation for the Women National Team’s remarkable medal-winning performance at London 2012.
“By recognizing this incredible group of athletes on 7 September we hope to give Canadian supporters the chance to express their support and admiration for taking the nation on a great ride with the capturing of Canada’s first Olympic Summer Games team medal since 1936 in the Women’s Olympic Football tournament,” said Peter Montopoli, General Secretary of the Canadian Soccer Association.
“The event also represents an opportunity for the country to continue this momentum for the sport with the Men’s National Team forging towards its goal of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014™.
