Two Ontario Teams in Championship Finals of North America’s Top Leagues
Two Ontario teams are in the championship games of two of the top leagues in North America. Ottawa Fury have advanced to W-League Championship game (top women’s league in North America) today (Sunday, July 29) in Ottawa and FC London have advanced to USL-PDL Championship game next Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Ottawa Fury vs Pali Blues (Los Angeles, California) in W-League Championship game at 4 pm this afternoon in Ottawa. Fury defeated DC United 1-0 in semi-final game played Friday in Ottawa. Today’s final kicks off at 4 pm at the Algonquin College Soccer Complex.

Last night, FC London defeated Seattle Sounders 3-2 in the USL’s Premier Development League (PDL) semi-final. London will now play Carolina Dynamo (2-1 winners over Orlando) in the championship game next Saturday, August 4 in Greensboro, Carolina.

Thunder Bay Chill is the only Ontario team to have ever won a USL championship – winning the Premier Development League (PDL) title in 2008. The Fury – one of the top women’s teams in North America – have qualified for the W-League playoffs for the past seven years and have twice reached the championship game – losing to fall short against New Jersey and Vancouver.
The Ontario Soccer Association wishes the Ottawa Fury and FC London all the very best in their pursuit of their respective championship titles.
