State Farm® Neighbourhood Soccer Volunteer Contest is back
The State Farm Neighbourhood Soccer Volunteer Contest is back for 2012! In its second year, the contest provides an opportunity to recognize those volunteers who go above and beyond in contributing to the betterment of soccer within their local community.
Residents of Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick can nominate themselves or volunteers such as coaches, administrators, event coordinators and board members for their outstanding contributions to the growth of soccer within their community. Voting begins on 22 June and runs until 31 August online at canadasoccer.com/statefarm_volunteer. Nominees must be over the age of 18 and must be a current volunteer at a recognized soccer club in Canada. Entries must be accompanied by a description of the nominee’s contributions in 125 words or more outlining their efforts and deservedness. Three regional winners will be selected and announced via canadasoccer.com on 4 September. Online voting for the grand prize winner will commence on that date and will run through until the 13th.
Last year Peter MacDougall of Alberta, Chris James of New Brunswick and Lucille Abate of Ontario took home great prizes for their clubs as regional winners. Lucille Abate was later recognized as the Grand Prize winner for her outstanding contributions and dedication to the Newmarket Soccer Club.
This year, regional winners will receive great prizes from Umbro for their local soccer club and the Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for four to Toronto (including travel and accommodation) to watch a Canadian Men’s National Team 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil TM Qualifying match against Cuba at BMO Field.
With the soccer season in full swing across the country this is our chance to recognize those who put forth outstanding efforts to grow the game of soccer in our communities. Good luck to all nominees!
