2012 Club Excellence Awards Announced

VAUGHAN, ON – The Ontario Soccer Association is pleased to announce the 29 Clubs that have proved themselves worthy of the OSA Club Excellence Award this year. These Clubs will be recognised for their efforts at the upcoming OSA Awards Banquet to be held April 28th at the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites.
Since September 2011, over 40 Clubs have worked on compiling, improving and ratifying their polices, procedures and practices to meet the standards set within the Club Excellence Award. Any OSA Club can apply to pursue an Award and once engaged, they have regular support and guidance from the OSA Club Development team. In reviewing the applicants, 29 clubs met the standards required at either Bronze, Silver or Gold.

Clubs will be the centre of attention as the Long Term Player Development road map for soccer in Ontario is presented, discussed and developed. Club input is essential if we are to get this right and we encourage Clubs to be represented administratively and technically.

The OSA Club Development and Club Excellence programs were created in 2007 thanks to seed funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Both are now services and programs offered by The OSA and available to Club, League and District Association members. The OSA Club Development team are excited to work with all Clubs on improving their standards and continuing to strengthen the OSA’s work with clubs in their community.
The Award has three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) with greater expectations for a Club achieving a higher award. A Club can start at any level of the Award and will provide evidence to prove it has reached the standard for that level. When awarded, a Club will have the benefit of receiving the title for two years. At the completion of the 2 years period a Club renews their award by providing information on how they have maintained that level or they can strive for a higher level.
The Award is not mandatory but should be an aspiration of any Club keen to demonstrate its role within the Community.
The Ontario Soccer Association is excited about the positive impact of this innovative program and looks forward to assisting clubs in aligning with Long Term Player Development.
