VAUGHAN, ON – OSATv presents highlights of the Ontario Soccer Association’s 2012 Coaching Conference and on-field sessions. Athletes participating in the demonstrations comment on their experience working with the high-profile guest clinicians and attending coaches comment on the re-scheduling of the 2012 Coaching Conference, the new on-field sessions format and the relevance of the LTPD coaching demonstrations to their work at the club level.

The Ontario Soccer Association wrapped its first-ever February Coaching Conference on Sunday, February 26th, at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan with 400-plus coaches from across Ontario in attendance.

The theme of the Conference was Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) presented in a re-configured Soccer Centre environment designed to provide greater intimacy by seating the coaches on the perimeter of a smaller demonstration area at field level, close to the action.

In the on-field sessions, Dr. David Carr conducted an LTPD FUNdamentals session with U8 Girls. Dr. Carr has 35 years experience as a youth, club, interscholastic, intercollegiate and profession coach. His coaching experience includes soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis and gymnastics. He is also Ohio University’s Club Lacrosse Advisor.

Ritchie Wilson, long-time Coach Educator with the Scottish Football Association, delivered an LTPD Learning to Train session with York Region SA U10 Boys. Ritchie Wilson spent 12 years as Coach Educator with the Scottish FA as Football Development Officer, Youth Development Officer and Regional Manager.

Ray Clark, the Canadian Soccer Association’s Director of Coaching, closed the on-field sessions working with members of the U17 Women’s NTCO Program to demonstrate the LTPD Soccer for Life development stage.
