VAUGHAN, ONThe Ontario Soccer Association’s U13 Regional Programs are preparing their final teams as they prime themselves to compete in the weekend-long U14 Provincial Identification Matches to be held at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan.

The Girl games are beginning on September 21 and wrapping up on September 23 with the Boys competing the following weekend from September 28 to September 30.

The Regional Coaches have been working with their Player base since October / November of 2011 in preparation for the weekends matches where the Players will be scouted by the Provincial and other Regional Coaches to identify the strongest candidates to move on into the first phase of selections for the U14 Provincial Program.

Historically 50 to 60 players will be identified after the weekends games to move on into the next phase of tryouts beginning on October 15th.  The Provincial Coaching Staff will then pare the numbers down to approximately 28 to 30 players by or before mid-November and will continue to develop them through to the end of April.

This team will travel in March to compete internationally and they will then compete in April with games against the Quebec Federation’s U14 Provincial Team.

In June/July the U14 Quebec and Ontario Teams will compete again at the CSA mandated Regional All-Star Championships.

Both the Female and Male Games are in commemorative memory of former Region 5 Head Coach, Mark Hearn who passed away in December 2007 after a long-term battle with cancer.
