VAUGHAN, ON – The Under 14 Girls Ontario Cup Final kicked off at 3:00 pm in warm Fall weather. The first half was a hard-fought battle but with little action or shots on goal.
The second half started brighter and the first chance came for the Brams United Angels with a long-range effort from #10 Carla Portillo, which forced a spectacular diving save from the Tecumseh goalkeeper, #91 Krystin Lawrence.
There was another chance for Brams soon after when a shot from inside the box struck the post and the rebound was cleared.
The Warriors hit back with a chance themselves when #21 Natalie Siedekovski broke clear through the Brams defence, but was unable capitalize when her shot caroomed straight at the oncoming goalkeeper.
In the 65th minute, a hand-ball from a Warriors defender was called and the referee pointed to the spot in front of the Tecumseh net.
#10 Carla Portillo confidently placed the ball into the top left corner to put the Angles into the lead 1-0.
The Warriors pushed back and attacked desperately for the equalizer, but to no avail.
At the final whistle, the Brams United Angels were crowned Ontario Cup Champions and thereby earned the honour of representing Ontario at the National Club Championships later this Fall.

Correction please: the goalie in this game was not Carly Alfano–she was # 91 Krystin Lawrence.
Thank you, correction has been made.
